Vino Bistro: For Food & Wine Lovers

When it’s too chilly for an impromptu stroll along the main avenue at Village at Leesburg, forget the stroll. Wrap up in your warmest outerwear and make Vino Bistro your designated destination where you’ll find a full bar and tempting pairings of a huge selection of wines with delicious, handcrafted and creatively contrived meals.

Owner Michael Pearce

The subtly sexy, refined and relaxed Vino Bistro is centrally located on Village Market Drive at Village at Leesburg. Its entrance is flanked by outdoor tables and chairs, now silent, awaiting more temperate days and warmer candle lit nights under the stars. Vino Bistro is owned by Michael Pearce, a pure bred New Zealander, born and raised on a 7,000 acre farm in his country. From the lessons of that farm life, Michael’s vision evolved over the years from New Zealand to the opening of Vino Bistro. His story has many chapters covering adventures working with a cruise line, a Mediterranean love affair with the woman now his wife, and ultimately the journey from vision to Vino Bistro reality in Virginia.

The menu at Vino Bistro is French inspired with a relaxed elegance and California flair. A love of wines is apparent. All wine choices are available via retail and to consume a la carte or with a meal. Actually, Vino Bistro offers more than one hundred fifty wines, each hand selected, individually tasted – “We taste everything. Like it? Put it on the shelf!”, says Michael. At the restaurant entrance, bottles of wine adorn the entire wall behind a large, inviting wooden bar table. Turn the corner and the room opens to another huge beautiful bar made from 200-year-old recycled wood and stone. Various levels separate dining areas where stainless storage chills yet another wall of wine selections. Michael and the staff at Vino Bistro are more than happy to chat with guests about wine choices.

The menu at Vino Bistro reflects seasonal and creative changes. We sampled from a plate of extra large Wild Gulf Shrimp, large and lush lamb chops, 100% grass fed New Zealand flat iron steak and New Zealand Rack of Lamb herb crusted with dijon and rosemary. The menu is rich with variety and hearty combinations with numerous familiar as well as less common options like Prince Edward Island Mussels, Beef Burgundy, Braised Boneless Short Ribs and Chipotle Rubbed Ahi Tuna.

Michael Pearce and his staff at Vino Bistro happily share their love of wine and food pairings offering a variety of educational events from tasting classes to sessions on growing and producing wine. Vino Bistro’s official grand opening is January 25 to 27th. There will be wine events, live music, a wine festival, dinner specials, tastings, games and much more.

Vino Bistro is located at 1605 Village Market Boulevard, Suite 100, Leesburg, VA 20175; 571-291-2520
It is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner with weekend brunch.
