Cocktail Convos: SideBar in Leesburg

Gaaaaah, I love this place! When owner Olivia Schnibbe first walked me through the historic buildings and courtyard that would become SideBar, I knew that Loudouners would be drawn to the cozy carriage house and the outdoor seating. Weeks later nibbling sweet potato fries topped with melted brie and candied bacon drizzled with a zippy maple siracha, and sipping bubbly from vintage coupes in a sunny window seat, I added it to my favorites. Brunch is fun here – grab a giant cinnamon roll or a breakfast taco and dig in – but so is dinner, late-nights, bartender battles, and a happy hour that stretches easily into multiple hours. This is the spot Leesburg had been missing.

And then Olivia added the coffee bar, with window service on King Street. Now SideBar is a go-to destination anytime of the day. The downtown working crowd can stroll up or grab a seat for the soup and salad combo, a highly addictive quinoa bowl or the Cali, served for breakfast on a bagel and as a chicken sandwich for lunch. Going well beyond a basic burger-based menu (though they do have several and they’re gooood), SideBar holds court in downtown Leesburg.

With a smooth sense of how to translate trends for Loudoun’s social scene, SideBar is both a comfortable favorite and a place for cool new things. Check their Facebook page for seasonal cocktails, craft beer and special events.

You can find SideBar at 24 South King Street, Leesburg, VA. @SideBarLBG
