Colada Shop in Sterling

Colada Shop is a social experience. While you can pop in to grab a Cuban Crema on the run (the espresso, dark chocolate and evaporated milk, made Miami sweet, is highly cravable) be sure to return with friends in tow for the full Havana window shop experience.

Share a Colada pot, which serves four, and a classic Tres Leches cake – rum cake soaked in three milks and topped with a lime meringue. Or dig in to a Cuban sandwich, a Picadillo empanada or some croquets at lunchtime or any of the Colada Hour specials from 4-7 p.m. daily. Need to warm up? The Chocolate de la Abuela, is an impressive hot chocolate that shouldn’t be left to the kids alone.

Colada Shop is a hidden treasure, and a stand out in Loudoun. It’s also an anti-Starbucks experience. Both locations are extraordinary and unique. DC has a rooftop lounge but nearby Sterling features an all-weather patio, and a stretch of faux lawn with yard games, flowing water and a firepit. Their coffee is roasted in DC by Compass Coffee to bring out smoky, warm flavors of brown sugar and cacao. This is coffee to savor so chugging it like a venti skim latte would be wrong – so wrong. Ask questions or chat with servers about the flavors you like for a recommendation the first time through.
